reissued 10 years from when it was spawned upon the techno world, with original artwork, downwards treat us to another chance to hear and own surgeon's debut album from way back in 1996. from the off you can hear the sound of things to come, albeit with a much rawer and distinctly 90's edge. from his simple set up of delay unit, drum machine and synth, surgeon obviously mastered and created a product that would be much greater than the sum of its parts, bringing him to the attention of techno luminaries such as jeff mills in detroit and berlin's tresor club empire. from raw and rudimentary techno mechanix to highly skilled machine beats optimised for worldwide club play, all with a composed and experimental manner. an essential document of the inception of one of techno's most revered dudes.
