born maxwell livingstone smith on the 22nd november 1947 in st d'acre, st james, jamaica. max romeo was responsible for launching an entirely new sub-genre of reggae, and as many say, was the one who put the rude into rudeboy. his lyrics caused an out cry amongst many, but took a massive hold in the music scene. his infamous hit 'wet dreams' was an instant classic, but was banned on many radio stations, particularly in the uk where he was gaining notoriety. in 1965 he joined with kenneth knight and lloyd shakespear to form the emotions earning their first hit on ken lacks caltone label. this release features 2 cd's with 36 classic hits and is a must for all reggae fans.
