jackie mittoo born 1948 donat roy mittoo in kingston, jamaica where he was taught to play the piano by his grandmother who was a music teacher by profession. by the age of 4 years he could play the piano, by age of 13 years he began to play professionally for various bands and producers. during jackie's short career he worked with all the greats of reggae music the likes of coxsone dodd, augustus pablo, skatalites, treasure isle, roland alphonso, bob marley and the wailers, marcia griffiths, heptones, bunny lee, slim smith, delroy wilson, and many more. during the late 60's he moved to canada, but still keep a tight link with jamaica going back and forth to continue his work. in 1990 jackie mittoo sadly past away, leaving behind a legacy of work, the importance of which is yet to be fully appreciated. this is a classical reggae album by one of the true greats and one not to be missed.
