Lemon Jelly's Fred Deakin returns with his first new music since the band halted in 2007. Inspired by classic concept albums such as Jeff Wayne’s The War of the Worlds, Fred has constructed an epic sci-fi musical extravaganza which tells the story of Earth’s final family over fourteen songs and five spoken interludes. Guest vocalists include ex-Ash guitarist Charlotte Hatherley as well as newcomers Abi Sinclair and Steffan Huw Davies, and Fred’s own vocals also feature.

Set in a (hopefully not too prescient!) dystopian near future where climate crisis and nuclear holocaust has brought Earth to the brink of extinction, the album is Fred’s first major release since his time as one half of hugely influential Mercury and Brit-nominated Lemon Jelly. The Lasters addresses contemporary themes such as climate change, tech addiction and generation clash, weaving them together with the unfailingly catchy songwriting that Lemon Jelly fans will be familiar with.The album comes as a lavish double-coloured-vinyl triple-gatefold package with a pop-up fold and metallic spot inks: as if that wasn’t enough there is an augmented reality element built into the album which triggers animations on your phone. Alternatively, as well as the album's music and artwork the USB version also contains all of Fred’s past DJ mixes, comprising over 50 hours of audio.
