this 25-track, special digipak cd release includes all the greatest hits recorded by bebo valds with the legendary 'sabor de cuba' band (1957-1960) and several tracks that appeared in the pre-configuration of that band with mainly the same all-star personnel : bebo valds (p), alejandro 'el negro' vivar (tp), generoso 'el tojo' jimnez (tb), gustavo ms, rafael quesada (sax); enrique 'kike' hernndez, orlando lpez 'cachato' (b); guillermo barreto (d), cndido camero and tata gines (percussion). this material had been previously locked away in the vaults collecting dust, but two years of extensive investigation by malanga music in havana's areto studio archives have brought these gems to light. the tracks have been digitised directly from the original masters, and this edition also boast a 20-page booklet featuring previously unpublished photos and texts in english and spanish, written by important cuban musicologists and journalists.
